Checking a casino licence before you hand over your ID: Curaçao and Anjouan

Before you sign up · two registers, with screenshots

Before asking whether a casino will demand your ID, ask whether it should be holding one. That takes two minutes: look its domain up in the licence register. Here is where to look, how, and which details to compare, with screenshots of the two registers behind the casinos on our list.

Sending your ID to an unlicensed casino is the worst case of all: you hand your details to somebody nobody supervises. That is why, on our turn board, the licence is the first of the five checks, and the only one every casino holds.

Why the licence comes before the ID

A licence does not tell you when papers will be demanded. It tells you something prior: that there is a regulator able to call the casino to account, that the company exists with a name and a number, and that the domain you are playing on is the one that regulator authorised. Without it, everything else, verification rules included, is waste paper.

Curaçao: cert.cga.cw

Most crypto casinos are licensed in Curaçao. The register is at cert.cga.cw, the certificate portal of the Curaçao Gaming Authority.

Certificate search box of the Curaçao Gaming Authority at cert.cga.cw
The search box at cert.cga.cw takes a domain or a company name, not a licence number. Type the domain exactly as it stands in the address bar, with no https and no www.

Step by step:

  1. Open cert.cga.cw.
  2. Search by domain (no https, no www) or by company. Not by licence number: the search box does not take it.
  3. Open whichever certificate comes up.
  4. Check the five details shown in the screenshot below.
Curaçao Gaming Authority certificate for cloudbet.com showing the status Active
A valid certificate carries five facts: the domain, the company (here Halcyon Super Holdings B.V.), the company number, licence OGL/2024/328/0599 and the status Active.

A valid certificate carries:

  • the domain: it has to be exactly the one in your address bar;
  • the company: the one named in the casino's terms;
  • the company number;
  • the licence number, in the format OGL/year/number;
  • the status: «Active».
Curaçao Gaming Authority certificate for betfury.io showing the status Active
betfury.io: Universe B Games B.V., licence OGL/2024/1494/0942, issued 31.07.2025 and active on 18.09.2026. The domain in the bar and the domain on the certificate match.

One case worth knowing: Vave's certificate names vavegame.com, not vave.com. Search for vave.com and you will not find it. This happens at other casinos too: a certificate may stand in the name of a main domain. If it does not line up, search by company.

Anjouan: the public register

Several casinos on the list are licensed in Anjouan. Its public register is filtered by casino or company name and, unlike the Curaçao one, shows an expiry date.

Anjouan public register filtered by Rakebit, showing a valid licence
The Anjouan register prints an expiry date. Rakebit: Nile King Media Ltd, ALSI-202602030-FI2, valid until 17.02.2027.

The date matters. In our check of 18.09.2026:

  • Rakebit: valid until 17.02.2027.
  • Wild Fortune: valid until 29.09.2026, days from expiry.
  • Coins.Game: until 27.10.2026.
  • CoinCasino: until 14.11.2026.

That is why the last three lose half a point on the board: you can deposit today at a casino whose licence will not exist next month.

The full table

If the casino does not come up

  1. Try the domain without www and with the exact ending (.com,.io,.game…).
  2. Search by the company name given in the terms or in the site footer.
  3. If a different domain appears, check whether the casino names it as its own.
  4. If nothing appears, or it appears with a status other than active or valid, do not deposit and do not send papers.

After the licence

With the licence checked, the next step is reading the verification clause: when papers are demanded and which ones. We explain it in what papers they ask for. And if you decide to send them, do it with the precautions in what they do with your ID.

Illustration: a blank identity card and a closed passport beside playing cards and casino chips
DNI, TIE or passport: what counts for the casino is a photo document, valid and readable. A NIE number on its own is not enough.

Questions readers ask

Where do I check a Curaçao licence?
At cert.cga.cw, the certificate portal of the Curaçao Gaming Authority. You search by domain or by company. The certificate shows the domain, the company, the company number, the licence number, the date of issue and the status.
Is the licence logo in the site footer enough?
No. A logo is an image anyone can paste in. What counts is the domain appearing in the official register with an active or valid status.
What do I do if the casino is not in the register?
Try the domain without www and then the company name given in its terms. If it still does not appear, treat it as a casino with no valid licence: do not deposit and do not send it papers.
